Andrew Ussher Joins Special Event Rentals as Vice-President

Special Event Rentals is pleased to announce that effective, April 1, 2011, Andrew Ussher has joined our firm as Vice-President.  Andrew will work closely with Gary Evans, our President, providing top level vision, direction and oversight for our firm as we continue to expand into one of Southern Ontario’s leading event rental companies.

Andrew’s involvement in the event rental industry in Southern Ontario began over twenty years ago, and he brings extensive knowledge and experience to his new position here at Special Event Rentals.  His input will be harnessed immediately to help dramatically enhance Special Event Rental’s already-excellent reputation in the event rental field.

For over 19 years, Andrew owned and managed one of the largest tent rental firms in Canada, and is well respected throughout the industry.  He is a Certified Management Accountant by profession, and brings a unique combination of financial management expertise and experience to our senior management team.

His specific responsibilities here at Special Event Rentals will include:

  • Establishing and overseeing strong financial management, controllership, capital spending, and strategic planning processes and controls.
  • Working with existing management to develop continual enhancements to our operations management practices, marketing efforts, and customer service capabilities.
  • Developing and implementing growth strategies to expand our market presence in the party rental, sporting event, and trade show marketplaces.
  • Providing leadership and expertise in continuing to grow our capabilities in the tent rental market.

Gary Evans and Andrew have worked closely together over the years on numerous large-scale projects including the Canadian Open Golf Tournament, the IAAF World Track & Field Championships, and the Organization of American States convention.  Gary is very excited to have Andrew join the Special Event Rentals team, and is confident that his expertise and experience will contribute immediately to the company’s continued growth and expansion.

We have worked very hard over the years here at Special Event Rentals to earn the trust and confidence of our customers – and we place tremendous value on the excellent reputation we have worked so diligently to develop.  With Andrew’s added efforts, we anticipate that this reputation will only continue to grow and expand, and we are very excited moving into the 2011 rental season with our newly-expanded senior management team in place.

Special Event Rentals partners with Burlington’s Crystal Ball 2011

Special Event Rentals is extremely proud to announce that we have been named as an official supplier to the 11th Annual Crystal Ball Fundraiser. This years’ event will be a night of elegance, style and glamour taking place at the new state-of-the-art-Mercedes-Benz dealership in Burlington, Ontario on May 14, 2011. Since 2001, The Crystal Ball has raised over $2.5 million to support health care at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital.

At this year’s event, guests will experience several differently-themed areas throughout the venue, with a variety of entertainment and delectable food service. The silent auction will feature a wine and art auction area, as well as other selected items.

The style and appeal of this event will bedazzle the attendees. Our Crystal Chiavari Chairs, illuminated bars and chrome furniture will be showcased throughout the evening.

Special Event Rentals is pleased to announce that we will be moving to a new Burlington location. Our newly renovated showroom and offices were built and designed to serve you better and more efficiently, easily accessible from wherever you’re coming from. Conveniently located off Appleby Line, just north of the QEW, our new warehouse covers 50,000 square feet of space for more amazing items for you to rent for your event. We’ve also decreased our minimum order amount to better accommodate you, our valued customers. (Delivery charges will remain the same.)

Special Event Rentals will continue to serve Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Burlington, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Niagara On The Lake, Grimsby, Ancaster, Dundas, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, Flamboro, Waterdown, Binbrook, Haldimand, Caledonia, Brantford, Mississauga, Halton Hills, and all surrounding areas. We will remain open during our big move and expect to be operating in the new building as of May 1, 2011. The Home page features a summary of services provided by Special Event Rentals, links for product categories (seen also in the Products page), links to various parts of the site, and lists the most recent news and events the company has supplied services for. There is also a picture from the latest news item and a quick list of contact numbers for Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Niagara Falls. Each page of the site, including the homepage, provides a search option and icons linking to the "Contact" form, Twitter feed, Facebook page and RSS Subscription.

The main About page offers a brief description of the company, and from there are links to Affiliates, which provides a list of links (in thumbnail logo form) to companies that Special Event Rentals is affiliated with, and Subscribe, which offers website visitors a form to enter their name, email and country of residence if they would like to subscribe to the Special Event Rentals newsletter.

The News section displays articles summarizing the most recent events that have utilized products and services from Special Event Rentals, or interesting information that pertains to the company (for example, how they plan to be more environmentally friendly). Many articles contain links to pictures.

The Gallery links to picture galleries of the different types of events that have utilized the products and services of Special Event Rentals; there are links to four different galleries – Weddings, Corporate Events, Sporting Events and Trade Shows. Each link to each gallery provides an option to look at the pictures or view a slideshow of them. (Within each gallery, visitors can click on the thumbnails to view larger versions of the images.)

Weddings displays photos from various weddings that have utilized products and services from Special Event Rentals, and a description for how their products can be used for weddings.

Corporate Events displays photos from various corporate events that have utilized products and services from Special Event Rentals, and a description for how their services can be used for similar events.

Sporting Events displays photos from various sporting events that have utilized products and services from Special Event Rentals.

Trade Shows displays photos from various trade shows that have utilized products and services from Special Event Rentals.

The Products home page provides a brief description of the types of products offered by Special Event Rentals, and a list of product categories, shown by small icons, that website visitors can click on to view the different products available. (The visitor will then be taken to a page of links to click on for all the products under that category.) It also provides a picture of and link to the latest product added, and has links for a Price List of the products (in downloadable PDF format), and a Shopping Cart where items a visitor wants to buy are displayed until they are ready to make their final purchase. (The visitor would then go there to make their final purchase.)

The Search box allows visitors to search the entire site for something they’re looking for. To find a specific product or service on the site, visitors can enter the key word into the search box and select the appropriate link from the generated results.

The Services section lists services provided by Special Event Rentals, such as delivery and pick-up. It also provides links to four other sub-sections: Helpful Hints, which outlines the proper protocol to follow when booking Special Event Rentals; Planning, which provides links and photos for event layouts provided by Special Event Rentals; Spacing Chart, which shows a measurement chart to help customers determine the space needed for their event; and FAQ, which displays a list of frequently asked questions and answers, and also provides a link for website visitors to ask their own question.

Contact Us provides a map of the Special Event Rentals offices, as well as the address, phone number, fax, email and hours of operation for both locations in Burlington and Hamilton. There is also a form for a visitor to fill out if he or she would like to leave a comment about the site or ask a question directly from the website. (This form includes spaces for the person's name, email, subject, a drop-down list for how they found Special Event Rentals, and for the comment or question itself.)
